Born on November 18, 1956, in Huddersfield, England, John Scott showed an early interest in music and began playing the organ at the age of ten. He received his early education at St. Michael's College in Tenbury Wells, where he studied music and developed his skills as an organist. After completing his education, John Scott began his career as a musician and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent. He served as the organist and choirmaster at St. Paul's Cathedral in London from 1990 to 2004, where he played a significant role in the development of the cathedral's music program. During his tenure, he conducted numerous performances and recordings, including the critically acclaimed "The English Anthem, Vol. 1-5." John Scott's talent as an organist and conductor was recognized by many prestigious organizations, and he received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 1998, he was awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his services to music, and in 2004, he was appointed as the Organist and Director of Music at St. Thomas Church in New York City. During his time at St. Thomas Church, John Scott continued to showcase his exceptional talent and dedication to music. He conducted numerous performances and recordings, including the critically acclaimed "The Complete Organ Works of Maurice Duruflé" and "The Complete Organ Works of Herbert Howells." He also collaborated with many renowned musicians and orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. John Scott's talent and dedication to music were not limited to his work as an organist and conductor.
