Throughout his career, Wächter performed in many of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, and La Scala in Milan. He was known for his versatility and his ability to perform a wide range of roles, from Mozart's comic operas to Wagner's epic dramas. One of Wächter's most notable performances was his portrayal of Don Giovanni in Mozart's "Don Giovanni." He performed the role over 200 times throughout his career, and it became one of his signature roles.
