She was born on April 17, 1927, in Turin, Italy, to a family of musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Sciutti showed a keen interest in music and began taking piano lessons at the age of six. At the age of 14, Sciutti began studying singing with the renowned Italian soprano, Mercedes Llopart. She made her debut in 1946 at the Teatro Regio in Turin, where she played the role of Barbarina in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." Her performance was well-received, and she soon began receiving offers to perform in other operas. In 1948, Sciutti made her debut at the Glyndebourne Festival in England, where she played the role of Despina in Mozart's "Così fan tutte." Her performance was a huge success, and she soon became a regular performer at the festival. She also made her debut at the Royal Opera House in London in 1951, where she played the role of Zerlina in Mozart's "Don Giovanni." Sciutti's career continued to flourish throughout the 1950s and 1960s. She performed in many of the world's leading opera houses, including La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Paris Opera. She was particularly renowned for her performances in Mozart's operas, and she was widely regarded as one of the finest Mozartian sopranos of her time. One of Sciutti's most memorable performances was in the role of Susanna in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Salzburg Festival in 1957. Her performance was widely praised, and it helped to establish her as one of the leading sopranos of her generation. She taught singing at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, and she also served as a judge for many international singing competitions. Graziella Sciutti passed away on April 14, 2001, at the age of 73.
