The choir was founded in 1969 by conductor and composer, Helmut Kühn, in the city of Leipzig, Germany. Helmut Kühn was a renowned conductor and composer who had previously worked with the Leipzig Radio Choir and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.
