Herincx grew up in a musical family, and his parents encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began his musical training at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied voice and piano. After completing his studies, Herincx made his professional debut in 1953, singing the role of the High Priest in Handel's "Samson" at the Royal Opera House in London. He quickly established himself as one of the leading baritones of his generation, and his powerful voice and commanding stage presence made him a favorite with audiences and critics alike. Over the course of his career, Herincx performed in many of the world's leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, and La Scala in Milan. He was particularly renowned for his performances in the operas of Verdi, Mozart, and Wagner, and he was widely regarded as one of the greatest interpreters of the baritone repertoire. One of the highlights of Herincx's career was his performance in the world premiere of Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem" in 1962. The piece was commissioned to commemorate the opening of the new Coventry Cathedral, which had been destroyed during World War II. Herincx sang the baritone solo in the piece, and his performance was widely praised for its emotional depth and sensitivity. In addition to his work in opera, Herincx was also a prolific concert performer and recitalist. He performed regularly with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He was also a frequent guest on radio and television programs, and his performances were broadcast to audiences around the world. Throughout his career, Herincx received many awards and honors for his contributions to classical music.
