Born on 17th June 1939 in London, England, Georgiadis grew up in a family of musicians. His father, George Georgiadis, was a violinist, and his mother, Irene Georgiadis, was a pianist. From a young age, Georgiadis showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. Georgiadis received his early education at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned violinist Frederick Grinke. He later went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York, where he was a student of Ivan Galamian. During his time at Juilliard, Georgiadis won several awards, including the prestigious Naumburg Award. After completing his studies, Georgiadis began his professional career as a violinist. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He also performed as a soloist with many other orchestras around the world, including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, and the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. One of the highlights of Georgiadis's career was his appointment as the leader of the London Symphony Orchestra in 1973. He held this position for over a decade and played a significant role in shaping the orchestra's sound and reputation. During his time with the London Symphony Orchestra, Georgiadis performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. In addition to his work with orchestras, Georgiadis was also a highly sought-after chamber musician. He was a founding member of the Delme String Quartet, which was formed in 1961 and went on to become one of the most respected string quartets in the world. The quartet performed extensively throughout Europe and the United States and recorded numerous albums. Georgiadis was also a dedicated teacher and mentor to many young musicians. He taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he was a professor of violin. He also gave masterclasses around the world and was known for his ability to inspire and motivate young musicians. Throughout his career, Georgiadis received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the world of music. In 1983, he was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to music.
