United KingdomBirth:May 13, 1965 in London, EnglandGenre:ChamberConcertoTasmin Little is a renowned British violinist who has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music. Born on May 13, 1965, in London, England, Little showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of five. Her parents were both amateur musicians, and her father was a keen collector of classical music recordings, which helped to nurture her love of the genre. Little's talent was evident from an early age, and she began performing in public at the age of eight. She went on to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey, where she received a scholarship from the age of 13. She continued her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she was awarded the Gold Medal in 1986. Little's career as a professional musician began in earnest in the late 1980s, when she won the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 1988. This prestigious award helped to launch her career, and she quickly became known for her virtuosic playing and expressive interpretations of classical music. Over the years, Little has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Simon Rattle, and Sir Andrew Davis. One of the highlights of Little's career was her performance of the Elgar Violin Concerto with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in 1994. This performance was widely acclaimed, and it helped to establish Little as one of the leading interpreters of Elgar's music. Little has also been a champion of contemporary music, and she has premiered many new works by leading composers, including James MacMillan, Peter Maxwell Davies, and Mark-Anthony Turnage. She has also recorded several albums of contemporary music, including a critically acclaimed recording of the violin concerto by John Tavener. In addition to her performing career, Little has also been a committed teacher and mentor to young musicians. She has taught at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and she has also given masterclasses around the world. Little has received many awards and honours throughout her career, including an OBE in 2012 for services to music. She has also been awarded the Gold Badge of Merit by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, and the Queen's Medal for Music. Despite her many achievements, Little has remained humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and record regularly, and she is widely regarded as one of the leading violinists of her generation. Her passion for music and her commitment to excellence have inspired countless musicians and music lovers around the world.More....
