Klöcker studied at the Frankfurt Conservatory of Music and later at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin. He received his diploma in clarinet performance in 1959 and went on to pursue a career as a professional musician. In the 1960s, Klöcker began performing with various orchestras and ensembles throughout Europe. He was a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra from 1964 to 1966 and later played with the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Frankfurt. The ensemble also performed at major music festivals throughout Europe and the United States, including the Salzburg Festival and the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York. In addition to his work with the Consortium Classicum, Klöcker was also a respected conductor.
