Steven Honigberg is a renowned cellist and classical music artist who has made a significant impact on the world of music through his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft. Born in New York City in 1951, Honigberg began his musical journey at a young age, showing a natural aptitude for the cello. He received his early training at the Juilliard School, where he studied under the tutelage of Leonard Rose, one of the most celebrated cellists of the 20th century. Honigberg's talent quickly became apparent, and he soon began to make a name for himself in the world of classical music. In 1971, he won the prestigious Young Concert Artists International Auditions, which launched his career as a soloist. He went on to perform with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his career, Honigberg has been recognized for his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft. He has won numerous awards and accolades, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Naumburg Award, and the Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann. He has also been a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Solo Recitalist Grant and the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award. He has served on the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, the University of Maryland School of Music, and the Catholic University of America.
