Matti Salminen is a Finnish bass singer who has become one of the most renowned classical music artists of his generation. Born on July 7, 1945, in Turku, Finland, Salminen grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. He studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he received his formal training in music. Salminen made his professional debut in 1972 at the Finnish National Opera, where he performed the role of Sparafucile in Verdi's Rigoletto.
