The CBC Vancouver Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The orchestra was founded in 1938 by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) as a radio orchestra, and it has since become one of the most respected and beloved orchestras in Canada. The CBC Vancouver Orchestra was founded by conductor and composer John Avison, who served as the orchestra's first music director. Avison was a prominent figure in the Canadian music scene, and he was instrumental in establishing the CBC Vancouver Orchestra as a leading ensemble in the country. Over the years, the CBC Vancouver Orchestra has had many distinguished members, including some of Canada's most talented musicians. Throughout its history, the CBC Vancouver Orchestra has been known for its outstanding performances and its commitment to promoting Canadian music.
