Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed his Symphony No. 25 in G minor, K. 183 (173dB) in Salzburg in 1773, when he was just 17 years old. The symphony premiered on October 5, 1773, at the University of Salzburg, where Mozart was employed as a court musician. The symphony consists of four movements: 1. Allegro con brio 2. Andante 3. Menuetto and Trio 4. Allegro The first movement, Allegro con brio, is in sonata form and begins with a dramatic and intense theme in the strings. The second theme is more lyrical and is introduced by the woodwinds. The development section is characterized by sudden shifts in dynamics and key, and the movement ends with a fiery coda. The second movement, Andante, is a lyrical and expressive piece in the key of E-flat major. The main theme is introduced by the strings and is later taken up by the woodwinds. The movement features a beautiful solo for the oboe, which is accompanied by pizzicato strings. The third movement, Menuetto and Trio, is a dance-like piece in triple meter. The main theme is introduced by the strings and is followed by a contrasting trio section featuring the woodwinds. The final movement, Allegro, is a fast and energetic piece in sonata form. The main theme is introduced by the strings and is followed by a more playful second theme in the woodwinds. The development section features a fugato, and the movement ends with a lively coda. Overall, Symphony No. 25 is characterized by its dramatic and intense mood, which is typical of Mozart's early symphonies. The use of sudden shifts in dynamics and key, as well as the use of fugato in the final movement, demonstrate Mozart's skill as a composer even at a young age. The symphony remains a popular and frequently performed work in the classical repertoire.
