Born on December 22, 1970, in Paris, France, Hurel grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a pianist, and her mother was a singer. From a young age, Hurel showed a keen interest in music and began playing the flute at the age of six. She studied under the guidance of renowned flutists Alain Marion and Pierre-Yves Artaud. Hurel's dedication and hard work paid off, and she graduated with top honors in 1991. After completing her studies, Hurel began her professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. She quickly gained recognition for her virtuosic playing and musical sensitivity. Hurel has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. One of Hurel's most notable performances was her debut at the BBC Proms in 2005. She performed the world premiere of a new work by British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage, titled "From the Wreckage." The performance was met with critical acclaim, and Hurel was praised for her "dazzling virtuosity" and "sensitive interpretation." Hurel has also been recognized for her work as a chamber musician. She has collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet and cellist Gautier Capuçon. In 2003, Hurel founded the Trio Messiaen, which has become one of the most highly regarded chamber ensembles in Europe. In addition to her performing career, Hurel is also a dedicated teacher.
