Quatuor Voce is a French classical music ensemble that was founded in 2004. The ensemble is composed of four members, namely Sarah Dayan (violin), Cécile Roubin (violin), Guillaume Becker (viola), and Lydia Shelley (cello). The ensemble has gained recognition for its unique sound and interpretation of classical music. The founding members of Quatuor Voce met while studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. They shared a passion for chamber music and decided to form a quartet. The ensemble's name, "Voce," is Italian for "voice," which reflects the quartet's desire to create a musical conversation between the four instruments. Quatuor Voce has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. The ensemble has also performed at numerous music festivals, such as the Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron, the Festival de Saintes, and the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier. One of Quatuor Voce's most notable performances was at the 2011 Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron, where they performed Beethoven's complete string quartets over the course of six concerts. The ensemble received critical acclaim for their interpretation of the works, with critics praising their technical precision and emotional depth. In addition to their performances, Quatuor Voce has also released several recordings. Their debut album, featuring works by Haydn and Schubert, was released in 2009 and received positive reviews. The ensemble's subsequent recordings have included works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Ravel. Quatuor Voce has received numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In 2005, the ensemble won first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan. They were also awarded the Pro Musicis International Award in 2010, which recognizes exceptional musicians who use their talents to serve their communities. In addition to their performances and recordings, Quatuor Voce is also committed to music education. The ensemble regularly conducts masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and they have served as artists-in-residence at several universities and conservatories. Overall, Quatuor Voce has established itself as one of the leading classical music ensembles in the world. Their unique sound and interpretation of classical works have earned them critical acclaim and a dedicated following of fans. The ensemble's commitment to music education and community service further demonstrates their passion for sharing their love of music with others.More....
