Genre:OrchestralVocalSolveig Kringelborn is a Norwegian soprano who has established herself as one of the most prominent classical music artists of her generation. Born on December 18, 1963, in Kristiansund, Norway, Kringelborn grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. Her father was a church organist, and her mother was a choir conductor, which exposed her to classical music from an early age. Kringelborn studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where she received her diploma in 1987. She then continued her studies at the Opera Academy in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she received further vocal training. Kringelborn made her professional debut in 1988 at the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo, where she performed the role of Barbarina in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." Kringelborn's career quickly took off, and she began performing in major opera houses and concert halls around the world. In 1990, she made her debut at the Royal Opera House in London, where she performed the role of Pamina in Mozart's "The Magic Flute." She also made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1995, where she performed the role of Mimi in Puccini's "La Bohème." Kringelborn has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also worked with many of the world's leading conductors, including Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, and Daniel Barenboim. Kringelborn's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, and Strauss, among others. She is particularly known for her interpretations of Scandinavian composers, such as Grieg, Sibelius, and Nielsen. Kringelborn has also premiered works by contemporary composers, including Arne Nordheim and Kaija Saariaho. Kringelborn has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 1991, she was awarded the Kirsten Flagstad Prize, which is given to young Norwegian singers who show exceptional promise. She was also awarded the Grieg Prize in 1994, which is given to musicians who have made significant contributions to the performance and promotion of Norwegian music. In addition to her performing career, Kringelborn is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the University of Oslo, and she has also given masterclasses around the world. Kringelborn is committed to nurturing the next generation of classical music artists and helping them to develop their skills and talents. In recent years, Kringelborn has scaled back her performing career to focus on teaching and mentoring. However, she continues to perform occasionally and remains a highly respected and influential figure in the classical music world. Her contributions to the art form have been significant, and her legacy as one of the greatest sopranos of her generation is secure.More....
