Role:ConductorGenre:ChoralDamien Guillon is a French countertenor and conductor who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born in 1976 in Paris, Guillon grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. He began his musical training as a chorister at the Maîtrise de Notre-Dame de Paris, where he studied under the direction of Lionel Sow. Guillon's talent as a countertenor was evident from an early age, and he went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He also studied with renowned countertenor Andreas Scholl, who became a mentor and friend to Guillon. In 2002, Guillon joined the ensemble Les Arts Florissants, led by William Christie. This was a major turning point in his career, as he was able to perform with some of the most respected musicians in the world of early music. He quickly became a sought-after soloist, performing in concerts and operas throughout Europe and the United States. One of Guillon's most notable performances was in the 2006 production of Handel's "Rodelinda" at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of the character Unulfo, and the production was hailed as a triumph. Guillon has also been recognized for his work as a conductor. In 2011, he founded the ensemble Le Banquet Céleste, which specializes in the performance of Baroque music. The ensemble has received widespread praise for its innovative and dynamic performances, and has been invited to perform at major festivals and concert halls throughout Europe. In addition to his work as a performer and conductor, Guillon is also a respected music educator. He has taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, and has given masterclasses at institutions around the world. Guillon has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Prix Liliane Bettencourt pour le chant choral, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of choral music. He has also been awarded the Diapason d'Or, one of the most prestigious awards in the world of classical music, for his recordings with Les Arts Florissants and Le Banquet Céleste. Despite his many accomplishments, Guillon remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He is known for his meticulous attention to detail and his commitment to authenticity in his performances. He continues to perform and record with some of the most respected musicians in the world, and is widely regarded as one of the leading countertenors of his generation.More....
