Born on September 16, 1979, in York, England, Davies grew up in a musical family. His father was a music teacher, and his mother was a pianist. Davies started singing at a young age and was a member of the choir at St. Mary's Church in Warwick. Davies attended King's College, Cambridge, where he studied music and was a member of the choir. He later went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Excellence. Davies made his professional debut in 2004, singing the role of Oberon in Benjamin Britten's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Glyndebourne Festival. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional voice and was soon in demand as a soloist. One of Davies' most notable performances was in 2010, when he sang the role of David in Handel's "Saul" at the Glyndebourne Festival. The performance was widely praised, and Davies was hailed as one of the finest countertenors of his generation. Davies has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has worked with many renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and Sir Antonio Pappano.
