Petra Lang is a renowned German mezzo-soprano who has established herself as one of the most versatile and accomplished classical music artists of her generation. Born on April 10, 1969, in Frankfurt, Germany, Lang grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. Lang made her professional debut in 1993 at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, where she quickly gained recognition for her powerful voice and dramatic stage presence. She went on to perform at some of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Paris Opera. One of Lang's most notable performances was her portrayal of Kundry in Richard Wagner's "Parsifal" at the Bayreuth Festival in 1997.
