Born in Rome, Italy in 1964, Grante showed an early aptitude for music and began studying piano at the age of four. His parents, both amateur musicians, recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Grante's early training was rigorous, and he spent many hours practicing and studying under the guidance of his teachers. He quickly developed a reputation as a prodigy, and by the age of ten, he had already won several local competitions and performed in public concerts. In 1975, Grante was accepted into the prestigious Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, where he continued his studies with some of the most renowned pianists in Italy. He also began to perform regularly in concerts and recitals, gaining a reputation as a rising star in the classical music world. In 1982, Grante won first prize in the prestigious Busoni International Piano Competition, which brought him international recognition and launched his career as a professional pianist. He went on to win several other major competitions, including the Montreal International Piano Competition and the International Piano Competition of Senigallia. Grante's performances are known for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. He has a particular affinity for the music of Franz Liszt, and his interpretations of Liszt's works are considered some of the finest in the world. He is also known for his performances of the music of Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin, among others.
