Simon Lindley is a renowned classical music artist who has made significant contributions to the world of music. Born on 5th October 1948 in Leeds, England, Lindley showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He later learned to play the organ and became a chorister at St. Michael's College, Tenbury, where he received his early musical training. Lindley's musical career began in earnest when he was appointed as the organist and choirmaster at St. Lawrence's Church, York, in 1975. He held this position for over 40 years, during which time he established himself as one of the leading organists and choral conductors in the UK. Lindley's work at St. Lawrence's Church was widely acclaimed, and he was responsible for the restoration of the church's historic organ, which had fallen into disrepair. In addition to his work at St. Lawrence's Church, Lindley has held numerous other positions in the music industry. He has served as the organist and choirmaster at Leeds Parish Church, the City Organist of Leeds, and the Director of Music at Leeds Minster. He has also been a visiting professor at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and the University of Huddersfield.
