Born on August 5, 1975, in Toulouse, France, Tiberghien began playing the piano at the age of five and showed exceptional talent from an early age. Tiberghien's musical education began at the Conservatoire de Toulouse, where he studied with Dominique Merlet. He later continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Michel Beroff and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling. Tiberghien's career as a concert pianist began to take off in the early 2000s, when he won several major international competitions, including the Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition in Paris in 2001 and the ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 2002. These victories helped to establish him as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. Since then, Tiberghien has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with some of the most distinguished conductors of our time, such as Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding, and Vladimir Jurowski. Tiberghien's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by composers from Bach to Ligeti. He has a particular affinity for the music of Debussy and has recorded several albums of his works, including a critically acclaimed recording of the complete piano music. He has also recorded works by Schumann, Brahms, and Bartok, among others. In addition to his work as a soloist, Tiberghien is also an active chamber musician and has collaborated with many of the world's leading instrumentalists and ensembles. He is a regular performer at major music festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the BBC Proms. Tiberghien's performances have been widely praised for their technical brilliance, musical sensitivity, and intellectual depth. He is known for his ability to bring out the subtleties and nuances of even the most complex works, and his performances are often described as both powerful and poetic. In recognition of his achievements, Tiberghien has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2008, he was awarded the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, which provides financial support and career guidance to exceptional young musicians. He has also been awarded the Diapason d'Or, the Gramophone Award, and the BBC Music Magazine Award, among others. Despite his many accomplishments, Tiberghien remains committed to his craft and continues to push himself to new heights of artistic excellence.
