Artist Info
Birth:September 28, 1985 in Polevskoy, RussiaAlina Ibragimova is a Russian-British violinist who has established herself as one of the most exciting and versatile musicians of her generation. Born in Russia in 1985, Ibragimova began playing the violin at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Her family moved to the UK when she was eight years old, and she continued her studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey. Ibragimova made her professional debut at the age of ten, performing with the Orchestra of St. John's Smith Square in London. She went on to win numerous awards and competitions, including the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York and the Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist Award. In 2005, she was named a BBC New Generation Artist, which led to a series of high-profile performances and recordings for the BBC. Ibragimova's repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works from the Baroque era to contemporary music. She is particularly known for her interpretations of Bach's solo violin works, which she has recorded twice – first for Hyperion Records in 2009, and then for the Decca label in 2015. Her performances of these works have been praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. In addition to her solo work, Ibragimova is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Cédric Tiberghien, cellist Steven Isserlis, and violist Lawrence Power. Together with Tiberghien, she has recorded the complete violin sonatas of Mozart for the Hyperion label, which was released to critical acclaim in 2016. Ibragimova has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She has also appeared at major music festivals around the world, including the BBC Proms, the Salzburg Festival, and the Edinburgh International Festival. One of Ibragimova's most notable performances was her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2014, where she performed the Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was widely praised, with The Guardian describing it as "a revelation... a performance of such intensity and insight that it seemed to reinvent the piece." Ibragimova has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In addition to the aforementioned Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist Award, she has been awarded the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist Award, and the Wigmore Hall Medal. She was also named a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in 2015. Despite her many achievements, Ibragimova remains humble and dedicated to her craft. In an interview with The Strad magazine, she said, "I don't think I'm a great violinist, but I'm trying to be a good musician... I'm always trying to learn and improve, and I hope that never changes." In addition to her performing career, Ibragimova is also a passionate educator. She has taught at the Royal College of Music in London and the Kronberg Academy in Germany, and has given masterclasses around the world. She is committed to passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of musicians. In conclusion, Alina Ibragimova is a remarkable musician who has achieved great success in her career.More....
