Born on July 20, 1987, in West Kilbride, Scotland, Benedetti began playing the violin at the age of four. Her parents, both musicians, recognized her talent early on and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Benedetti's early musical education was shaped by her studies with Brenda Smith, a renowned violin teacher in Scotland. At the age of eight, Benedetti won her first competition, the BBC Young Musician of the Year, which launched her career as a soloist. She went on to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England, where she received a full scholarship and studied with Natasha Boyarsky. In 2004, Benedetti made her debut with the London Symphony Orchestra, performing the Sibelius Violin Concerto under the baton of Daniel Harding.
