Gustav Sjökvist is a renowned Swedish conductor, composer, and organist. He was born on August 22, 1954, in Stockholm, Sweden. Sjökvist grew up in a musical family, and his parents were both professional musicians. His father was a church organist, and his mother was a choir conductor. Sjökvist started playing the piano at the age of six and began singing in his church choir at the age of eight.
