David Parry is a renowned conductor and music director who has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music. Born in London, England, on May 28, 1958, Parry showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He went on to study music at the Royal College of Music in London, where he specialized in conducting. Parry's career as a conductor began in the early 1980s when he was appointed as the assistant conductor of the English National Opera. He quickly gained a reputation for his skill and talent, and in 1984, he was appointed as the music director of the Opera Theatre Company in Dublin, Ireland. During his time there, he conducted a number of critically acclaimed productions, including Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and Verdi's "La Traviata." In 1987, Parry returned to London and became the music director of the London Mozart Players, a position he held for over a decade. During his time with the orchestra, he conducted numerous concerts and recordings, including a highly acclaimed recording of Mozart's "The Magic Flute." He also worked with a number of other orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the English Chamber Orchestra. Parry's reputation as a conductor continued to grow, and he was soon in demand as a guest conductor with orchestras around the world. He conducted the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Paris Opera, among others. He also conducted a number of major festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Glyndebourne Festival, and the Edinburgh Festival. One of Parry's most notable achievements was his work with the Chandos record label. He conducted a number of recordings for the label, including a highly acclaimed series of recordings of the operas of Gioachino Rossini. The recordings were praised for their clarity and energy, and helped to establish Parry as one of the leading conductors of his generation. In addition to his work as a conductor, Parry has also been involved in music education. He has taught at a number of institutions, including the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He has also conducted a number of youth orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Throughout his career, Parry has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 2003, he was awarded the Order of the British Empire for his services to music. He has also been awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society Conductor's Award and the Gramophone Award for his recordings. Today, Parry continues to be an active conductor and music director. He is currently the music director of the London Philharmonic Choir and the principal conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He also continues to conduct concerts and recordings around the world, and is widely regarded as one of the leading conductors of his generation.
