He was born in France in 1956 and grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Francois showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. Francois received his early music education at the Conservatoire National de Région de Nice, where he studied under the guidance of renowned violinist and pedagogue, Jean-Pierre Wallez. He later went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he was a student of Jean-Jacques Kantorow. After completing his studies, Francois began his professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. Throughout his career, Francois has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and conductor Sir Simon Rattle. He has also performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. Francois has recorded extensively throughout his career, and his recordings have received critical acclaim. He has recorded works by some of the world's greatest composers, including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms. His recording of Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin is considered one of the definitive recordings of this repertoire. In addition to his performing career, Francois is also a respected teacher and pedagogue. He has taught at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. He is also a regular guest teacher at music festivals and masterclasses around the world. Throughout his career, Francois has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the world of music. In 1992, he was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin. In 2001, he was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of his contributions to the arts. Francois continues to perform and teach around the world, and his passion for music remains as strong as ever.
