Born in 1969 in London, England, O'Neill grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a professional cellist, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, O'Neill showed a keen interest in music and began playing the bassoon at the age of 11. O'Neill's talent was quickly recognized, and she was accepted into the prestigious Purcell School of Music in London. After completing her studies there, she went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music, where she was awarded the prestigious Queen's Commendation for Excellence in recognition of her outstanding talent. Throughout her career, O'Neill has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of O'Neill's career was her performance of Mozart's Bassoon Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre in London.
