Birgitta Svenden was born on May 12, 1985, in Oslo, Norway. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Birgitta showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Birgitta's talent was quickly recognized, and she began performing in public at the age of six. She went on to study at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, where she received her Bachelor's degree in violin performance. She then continued her studies at the Royal College of Music in London, where she earned her Master's degree. Throughout her career, Birgitta has performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. She has also collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Valery Gergiev. One of Birgitta's most notable performances was at the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, where she performed alongside artists such as Alicia Keys, Annie Lennox, and Andrea Bocelli. She also performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where she played the Norwegian national anthem during the medal ceremony for the men's cross-country skiing event. Birgitta has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2006, she won the prestigious Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo, which helped to launch her international career. She has also been awarded the Norwegian Music Prize and the Grieg Prize, among others. In addition to her performing career, Birgitta is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo and the Royal College of Music in London, and has given masterclasses around the world. She is passionate about passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of musicians. Birgitta is known for her virtuosic playing and her ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music she performs. She is particularly renowned for her interpretations of the works of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, and has recorded several albums of his music.
