The English Northern Philharmonia is a classical music ensemble based in Leeds, England. Founded in 1978, the orchestra has become one of the most respected and renowned ensembles in the United Kingdom. The orchestra was founded by conductor David Lloyd-Jones, who served as its music director until 2005. Lloyd-Jones had previously worked as an assistant conductor with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and he brought his experience and expertise to the English Northern Philharmonia.
