La Reverdie is a classical music ensemble that specializes in medieval and Renaissance music. The group was founded in 1986 by four women from Italy: Claudia Caffagni, Livia Caffagni, Elisabetta de Mircovich, and Doron David Sherwin. The ensemble takes its name from the French term "la reverdie," which refers to the arrival of spring and the renewal of life. The founding members of La Reverdie were all trained in early music performance and had a shared passion for the music of the medieval and Renaissance periods. La Reverdie has performed extensively throughout Europe and North America, and has been featured at many of the world's most prestigious early music festivals. The group has also released numerous recordings, many of which have received critical acclaim and won awards. One of La Reverdie's most notable performances was their appearance at the 1996 Utrecht Early Music Festival, where they presented a program of music by the 14th-century composer Francesco Landini.
