Doron David Sherwin is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born in 1962 in the United States and grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a classical pianist. From a young age, Sherwin showed a keen interest in music and began playing the trumpet at the age of nine. Sherwin's talent was evident from the beginning, and he quickly became a sought-after musician in his local community. He attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned trumpet player Armando Ghitalla. In 1990, he was awarded the prestigious Erasmus Prize for his contributions to the field of early music. He has also been awarded the Prix de la Fondation Royaumont and the Prix de la Fondation Cini. In 2017, he was awarded the Bach Prize by the City of Leipzig, Germany, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the performance of Bach's music. Sherwin's recordings have also received critical acclaim. He has recorded extensively with the English Baroque Soloists, the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, and the Academy of Ancient Music, among others. His recordings of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos with the English Baroque Soloists have been particularly well-received, and have been praised for their clarity, precision, and virtuosity. In addition to his work as a performer and teacher, Sherwin is also a respected scholar and has written extensively on the history and performance of early music.
