Genre:ChamberKeyboardEwa Kupiec is a renowned classical pianist born on December 9, 1955, in Poland. She began playing the piano at the age of five and showed exceptional talent from an early age. Her parents recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Kupiec studied at the State Music School in Zabrze, Poland, and later at the Academy of Music in Katowice, where she received her diploma with honors. She continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich, Germany, under the guidance of Professor Hugo Steurer. In 1980, Kupiec won the first prize at the International Piano Competition in Senigallia, Italy, which marked the beginning of her international career. She went on to win several other prestigious competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Vercelli, Italy, and the International Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa. Kupiec has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, and the Warsaw Philharmonic. She has also collaborated with renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Lorin Maazel, and Zubin Mehta. One of Kupiec's most memorable performances was her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1986, where she played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 under the baton of Maazel. The performance was highly acclaimed, and Kupiec was praised for her technical brilliance and musical sensitivity. Kupiec has also made numerous recordings, including works by Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, and Schumann. Her recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes was particularly well-received and earned her a nomination for the International Classical Music Awards. In addition to her performing career, Kupiec is also a respected teacher. She has taught at the Academy of Music in Katowice, the Hochschule für Musik in Munich, and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Many of her students have gone on to successful careers in music. Kupiec has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 1993, she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her contributions to the arts. She has also been awarded the Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
