Nicolas Stavy is a French classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his exceptional talent and musicality. Born on December 22, 1978, in Toulouse, France, Stavy showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He was a prodigious talent and quickly gained a reputation as a gifted musician. Stavy's early musical education was under the guidance of his mother, who was a piano teacher. He later studied at the Conservatoire National de Région de Toulouse, where he was awarded first prize in piano performance. He continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Jacques Rouvier. Stavy's talent was recognized early on, and he began to receive invitations to perform at major music festivals and concert halls around the world. In 2001, he won the prestigious International Piano Competition of Orléans, which helped to launch his career as a soloist. Since then, Stavy has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre de Paris, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also collaborated with many distinguished conductors, including Myung-Whun Chung, Daniele Gatti, and Emmanuel Krivine. Stavy's repertoire is wide-ranging, and he is particularly known for his interpretations of the works of French composers such as Debussy, Ravel, and Messiaen. He has also recorded the complete piano works of Maurice Ohana, which was released to critical acclaim. In addition to his solo career, Stavy is also a dedicated chamber musician. He has collaborated with many distinguished artists, including violinist Renaud Capuçon, cellist Gautier Capuçon, and clarinetist Michel Portal. Stavy's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance, musical sensitivity, and emotional depth. He is known for his ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music he plays, and his performances are often described as mesmerizing and captivating. Stavy has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. Stavy's recordings have also received critical acclaim. His recording of the complete piano works of Maurice Ohana was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque by the Académie Charles Cros in 2011.
