Lee's parents recognized his musical talent at an early age and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Lee began his piano studies at the age of four with his mother, who was his first teacher. Lee's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age, and he quickly gained recognition as a prodigy. In 1949, Lee moved to Paris to continue his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He studied under the tutelage of Yvonne Lefébure and won several awards, including the Premier Prix de Piano and the Premier Prix de Musique de Chambre. Lee's success at the conservatory paved the way for his career as a concert pianist. Lee made his debut as a concert pianist in 1952 at the Salle Gaveau in Paris. He quickly gained recognition for his virtuosity and musicality, and his performances were praised by critics and audiences alike. Lee's repertoire included works by classical composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin, as well as contemporary composers such as Messiaen, Boulez, and Stockhausen. Throughout his career, Lee has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. In addition to his career as a concert pianist, Lee is also a prolific composer. He has written numerous works for piano, chamber ensembles, and orchestra, many of which have been performed and recorded by other musicians. Lee's compositions are known for their lyrical melodies, intricate harmonies, and innovative use of musical form. Lee's contributions to the world of music have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 1975, he was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of Messiaen's Vingt Regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus.
