Scimone began his musical education at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice, where he studied violin and composition. He later continued his studies at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he studied conducting with Franco Ferrara. In 1958, Scimone founded the I Solisti Veneti chamber orchestra, which became one of the most renowned ensembles in the world.
