Born in London in 1986, Waley-Cohen grew up in a musical family and began playing the violin at the age of two. She studied at the Royal College of Music in London and later at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Waley-Cohen's career began to take off in the early 2010s, when she won several prestigious awards and competitions. In 2011, she was named a BBC New Generation Artist, which led to numerous performances and recordings for the BBC. The following year, she won the Royal Overseas League String Competition, which helped to raise her profile even further. Since then, Waley-Cohen has become a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, performing with some of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles.
