Tom Poster is a British classical pianist who has established himself as one of the most exciting and versatile musicians of his generation. Born in 1981 in London, Poster began playing the piano at the age of four and showed an early talent for music. He studied at the Purcell School of Music and later at the Royal Academy of Music, where he won numerous awards and prizes. Poster's career as a professional musician began in earnest in the early 2000s, when he started performing regularly as a soloist and chamber musician. He quickly gained a reputation for his virtuosic playing and his ability to connect with audiences through his expressive and passionate performances. One of the highlights of Poster's early career was his performance at the 2002 BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, where he reached the final and was highly praised for his playing. This exposure helped to launch his career and led to numerous invitations to perform at major venues and festivals around the world. Since then, Poster has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors of our time, including Sir Simon Rattle, Vladimir Ashkenazy, and Sir Mark Elder. Poster's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by composers from Bach to Ligeti. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Chopin, Schumann, and Rachmaninoff, and has recorded several critically acclaimed albums of their works. In addition to his work as a soloist, Poster is also an accomplished chamber musician and has performed with some of the world's leading ensembles, including the Belcea Quartet, the Elias Quartet, and the Nash Ensemble. He is a founding member of the Aronowitz Ensemble, a group of young musicians who are dedicated to exploring and promoting the chamber music repertoire. Poster is also a passionate advocate for music education and is involved in several initiatives aimed at inspiring and supporting young musicians. He is a professor of piano at the Royal College of Music in London and is a regular guest teacher at music schools and festivals around the world. Throughout his career, Poster has received numerous awards and accolades for his playing, including the Keyboard Final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, the Scottish International Piano Competition, and the Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition. He has also been awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the music profession. Despite his many achievements, Poster remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and record regularly, and is always looking for new ways to explore and share his love of music with audiences around the world.
