Role:EnsembleKonzerthausorchester Berlin is a renowned classical music orchestra based in Berlin, Germany. The orchestra was founded in 1952 and has since then become one of the most respected and sought-after orchestras in the world. The birth of Konzerthausorchester Berlin can be traced back to the post-World War II era when the city of Berlin was divided into two parts, East and West. In 1952, the East German government established the Berliner Sinfonie-Orchester, which was later renamed as the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. The orchestra was initially composed of musicians from the former Berlin State Opera and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra's first conductor was Hermann Hildebrandt, who led the orchestra until 1959. Under his leadership, the orchestra gained recognition for its exceptional performances and became a cultural ambassador for East Germany. In 1956, the orchestra made its first international tour to the Soviet Union, which was followed by tours to other countries in Europe and Asia. In 1959, the renowned conductor Kurt Sanderling took over as the principal conductor of the orchestra. Sanderling's tenure with the orchestra lasted for 17 years, during which he established the orchestra's reputation as one of the finest in the world. Under his leadership, the orchestra performed extensively in Europe, Asia, and the United States, and recorded numerous albums for major record labels. In 1976, the conductor Günther Herbig succeeded Sanderling as the principal conductor of the orchestra. Herbig's tenure with the orchestra was marked by a series of successful tours and recordings, including a highly acclaimed recording of Beethoven's symphonies for EMI. In 1984, the conductor Michael Schønwandt became the principal conductor of the orchestra. Schønwandt's tenure with the orchestra was characterized by a focus on contemporary music and collaborations with leading composers and soloists. During his tenure, the orchestra premiered numerous works by contemporary composers and recorded several albums of contemporary music. In 1994, the conductor Eliahu Inbal became the principal conductor of the orchestra. Inbal's tenure with the orchestra was marked by a focus on the works of Gustav Mahler and other late Romantic composers. Under his leadership, the orchestra recorded several albums of Mahler's symphonies and performed extensively in Europe and Asia. In 2006, the conductor Lothar Zagrosek became the principal conductor of the orchestra. Zagrosek's tenure with the orchestra was marked by a focus on the works of Richard Strauss and other German Romantic composers. Under his leadership, the orchestra recorded several albums of Strauss's works and performed extensively in Europe and Asia. In 2012, the conductor Iván Fischer became the principal conductor of the orchestra. Fischer's tenure with the orchestra has been marked by a focus on the works of Mozart and other classical composers. Under his leadership, the orchestra has recorded several albums of Mozart's works and has performed extensively in Europe and Asia. Over the years, Konzerthausorchester Berlin has received numerous awards and accolades for its exceptional performances and recordings. The orchestra has won several Echo Klassik awards, the German Record Critics' Award, and the Diapason d'Or award. The orchestra has also been nominated for several Grammy awards.More....
