Pedro Estevan is a renowned Spanish percussionist, composer, and musicologist who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on May 23, 1957, in Madrid, Spain, Estevan grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. His father was a guitarist, and his mother was a singer, which inspired him to pursue a career in music. Estevan began his musical training at the age of six, studying classical guitar and piano. However, he soon discovered his passion for percussion and began to focus on this instrument. He studied percussion at the Madrid Royal Conservatory and later at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland. Estevan's career as a percussionist began in the early 1980s when he joined the ensemble Hesperion XX, led by the renowned Spanish musician Jordi Savall. With Hesperion XX, Estevan toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States, performing in major concert halls and festivals. He also recorded several albums with the ensemble, including "El Cancionero de Palacio" and "La Folia." In addition to his work with Hesperion XX, Estevan has collaborated with many other prominent musicians and ensembles, including the Ensemble Gilles Binchois, the Hilliard Ensemble, and the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées.
