RussiaThe Philharmonia of Russia is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2003 by conductor and pianist Constantine Orbelian. The ensemble is made up of some of the most talented musicians in Russia, and has quickly become one of the most respected and sought-after orchestras in the world. Orbelian, who was born in San Francisco to Russian émigré parents, had a deep love for classical music from a young age. He began studying piano at the age of five, and went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. After graduating, he moved to Europe to continue his studies, and eventually settled in Russia. It was in Russia that Orbelian first had the idea to form the Philharmonia of Russia. He wanted to create an ensemble that would showcase the incredible talent of Russian musicians, and bring the beauty of classical music to audiences around the world. The ensemble's main members are all highly skilled musicians who have trained at some of the most prestigious music schools in Russia. They include violinists Alexei Bruni and Sergei Poltavsky, cellist Alexander Buzlov, and clarinetist Oleg Ovchinnikov, among others. Since its founding, the Philharmonia of Russia has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the most renowned soloists in the world, including pianist Lang Lang and violinist Maxim Vengerov. One of the highlights of the Philharmonia of Russia's career was their performance at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. The ensemble performed at the opening ceremony, playing a piece composed by Orbelian himself. The performance was widely praised for its beauty and elegance, and helped to bring the music of Russia to a global audience. The Philharmonia of Russia has also won numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 2009, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious Golden Mask award for their performance of Tchaikovsky's opera "Eugene Onegin." The following year, they won the Grand Prix at the International Festival of Symphonic Music in Moscow. Despite their many achievements, the members of the Philharmonia of Russia remain dedicated to their craft and to bringing the beauty of classical music to audiences around the world. They continue to perform regularly, both in Russia and abroad, and are widely regarded as one of the finest classical music ensembles in the world.More....
