The New York Times praised Pomárico's "precision and clarity" and noted that he "brought out the music's rhythmic vitality and textural richness." Pomárico has also been recognized for his work in contemporary music. He has conducted premieres of works by composers such as Salvatore Sciarrino, Helmut Lachenmann, and György Ligeti. In 2003, he conducted the premiere of Sciarrino's "Infinito nero" at the Venice Biennale, which was later recorded and released on CD. In addition to his work as a conductor, Pomárico is also a respected teacher. He has taught conducting at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany.
