Born in London, England, in 1961, Rees showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. He was a prodigious talent and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional skills. Rees received his formal music education at the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned violinist Rodney Friend. He graduated with honors and went on to pursue a successful career as a soloist and chamber musician. Throughout his career, Rees has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Colin Davis, and Sir John Eliot Gardiner. One of the highlights of Rees's career was his performance of Beethoven's Violin Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre in London. The performance was widely acclaimed by critics and cemented Rees's reputation as one of the finest violinists of his generation. In addition to his work as a soloist, Rees is also a highly respected chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Nash Ensemble, the Endellion Quartet, and the Chilingirian Quartet.
