Artist Info
Role:ConductorRoberto Forés Veses is a Spanish conductor and cellist who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on May 22, 1976, in Valencia, Spain, Veses grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a cellist and his mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that he would develop a love for music at a young age. Veses began playing the cello when he was just six years old, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already performing in orchestras and chamber groups. He studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia, where he received his degree in cello performance. He then went on to study conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany. Veses made his conducting debut in 2002 with the Orquesta de Valencia, and since then, he has conducted many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. One of Veses' most notable performances was his debut with the Orchestre National de France in 2011. He conducted a program of works by Ravel, Debussy, and Stravinsky, and his performance was met with critical acclaim. The French newspaper Le Figaro called him a "prodigious conductor" and praised his "precision, clarity, and sensitivity." Veses has also been recognized for his work as a cellist. In 2000, he won first prize at the International Cello Competition in Llanes, Spain, and in 2001, he won the Pablo Casals Prize at the International Cello Competition in Kronberg, Germany. In addition to his work as a conductor and cellist, Veses is also a composer. He has written music for film, television, and the stage, and his compositions have been performed by orchestras around the world. Veses is known for his innovative programming, which often includes works by contemporary composers alongside more traditional repertoire. He has a particular interest in the music of Spanish and Latin American composers, and has conducted many premieres of works by these composers. Veses has been the principal conductor of the Orquesta de Valencia since 2014, and has also served as the principal conductor of the Orchestre d'Auvergne in France and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra in Spain. He has recorded extensively, with recordings on the Harmonia Mundi, Naxos, and Deutsche Grammophon labels. Veses is highly regarded by his colleagues and audiences alike for his musicality, his technical skill, and his ability to connect with both the musicians and the audience. He is considered one of the most exciting and dynamic conductors of his generation, and his career shows no signs of slowing down.More....
