Sophie Koch is a renowned French mezzo-soprano who has established herself as one of the leading classical music artists of her generation. Born on June 22, 1969, in Strasbourg, France, Koch grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. Her father was a cellist and her mother was a pianist, and they encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Koch began her musical training at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg, where she studied piano and voice. She later continued her studies at the Conservatoire de Paris, where she was mentored by renowned mezzo-soprano Jane Berbié. Koch's talent and dedication to her craft quickly became apparent, and she began to receive recognition for her performances. In 1992, Koch made her professional debut at the Opéra de Lyon, where she performed the role of Cherubino in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." This performance marked the beginning of a long and successful career for Koch, who has since performed at some of the world's most prestigious opera houses and concert halls. One of Koch's most notable performances was her portrayal of Charlotte in Massenet's "Werther" at the Royal Opera House in London in 2004.
