The SWR Stuttgart Radio Symphony Chorus is a renowned classical music artist that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over 70 years. The chorus was founded in 1946 as part of the newly established Südwestfunk (SWF) broadcasting company in Stuttgart, Germany. The SWF was created to provide radio and television services to the southwestern region of Germany, and the chorus was an integral part of this mission. The SWR Stuttgart Radio Symphony Chorus quickly established itself as a leading choral ensemble in Germany, and its reputation soon spread throughout Europe and beyond. The chorus has performed with some of the world's most renowned conductors and orchestras, including Sir Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado, and Herbert von Karajan. The chorus has also collaborated with many of the world's most celebrated soloists, including Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, and Jessye Norman. One of the highlights of the SWR Stuttgart Radio Symphony Chorus's career was their performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Herbert von Karajan in 1977.
