Rybar attended the Prague Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned violinist Vaclav Snitil. He graduated with honors in 1976 and went on to study at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. During his time at the academy, he won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Prague Spring International Music Festival. After completing his studies, Rybar began his professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to perform at major music festivals around the world. He made his debut in the United States in 1982, performing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Seiji Ozawa. Throughout his career, Rybar collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He was particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms. One of Rybar's most notable performances was his 1985 debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City. He went on to perform at Carnegie Hall several more times throughout his career. Rybar was also a prolific recording artist, with over 20 albums to his name. His recordings of the complete works of Mozart for violin and orchestra are considered some of the finest interpretations of the composer's music. In addition to his solo career, Rybar was also a dedicated chamber musician. He was a founding member of the Prague String Quartet, which was known for its innovative interpretations of classical and contemporary music. The quartet performed together for over 20 years, and their recordings are still highly regarded today.
