Théotime Langlois de Swarte is a French classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a violinist and conductor. Born in 1993 in Paris, France, Théotime grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. His father, a cellist, and his mother, a pianist, both played in orchestras and chamber ensembles, and Théotime was encouraged to pursue music as a career. Théotime began playing the violin at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied with renowned violinists such as Jean-Jacques Kantorow and Renaud Capuçon, and went on to attend the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he studied with Olivier Charlier and Claire Désert. In 2012, Théotime won first prize at the International Violin Competition of Sion-Valais in Switzerland, which launched his career as a soloist. He has since performed with major orchestras such as the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, and has appeared at prestigious venues such as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Philharmonie de Paris. Théotime is also a passionate chamber musician and has collaborated with many renowned artists, including pianist Bertrand Chamayou and cellist Edgar Moreau. In 2016, he founded the ensemble Les Métaboles, which specializes in contemporary music and has performed at festivals such as the Festival d'Automne à Paris and the Festival de Saint-Denis. In addition to his work as a performer, Théotime is also a conductor and has led orchestras such as the Orchestre National de Lorraine and the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Rouen Normandie. He has a particular interest in historically informed performance and has conducted baroque ensembles such as Le Concert de la Loge and Les Talens Lyriques. Théotime's playing is characterized by its technical precision and emotional depth. He is known for his ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music he plays, and for his expressive and lyrical playing style. He is also a champion of contemporary music and has premiered works by composers such as Philippe Hersant and Thierry Escaich. Théotime has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In addition to his win at the International Violin Competition of Sion-Valais, he has been awarded the Prix Thierry Scherz from the Fondation de France, the Prix de la Fondation Safran pour la musique, and the Prix de la Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca from the Institut de France. Despite his young age, Théotime has already established himself as one of the most promising classical music artists of his generation.
