From a young age, Cuiller showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. Cuiller's musical education began at the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris, where he studied violin and viola. During his time at the conservatory, Cuiller also studied conducting with Jean-Sébastien Béreau and Pierre Boulez. After completing his studies, Cuiller began his career as a viola player, performing with various orchestras in France and abroad. He also worked as a chamber musician, playing with ensembles such as the Ensemble Baroque de Limoges and the Ensemble Baroque de Nice. In the early 1990s, Cuiller began to focus more on conducting, and he founded his own ensemble, Le Concert de l'Hostel Dieu, in 1992. The ensemble specializes in Baroque music and has gained a reputation for its innovative and dynamic performances.
