Cynthia Phelps is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the world of music. Born on March 13, 1963, in California, Cynthia grew up in a family of musicians. Her father, Newell Oler, was a violist, and her mother, Carole Kleister-Castillo, was a pianist. Cynthia's parents were her first music teachers, and they instilled in her a love for music from a young age. Cynthia began playing the viola at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She continued her studies at the University of Southern California, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. She then went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York, where she received a Master of Music degree. After completing her studies, Cynthia began her professional career as a violist. She joined the New York Philharmonic in 1992 as the Associate Principal Viola, and in 1994, she was promoted to Principal Viola. Cynthia has been a member of the New York Philharmonic for over 25 years and has played a significant role in the orchestra's success. Throughout her career, Cynthia has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors, including Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta, and Lorin Maazel. Cynthia has also been a soloist with many orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
