Quatuor Debussy is a French classical music quartet that has been active since 1990. The quartet is composed of Christophe Collette (violin), Marc Vieillefon (violin), Vincent Deprecq (viola), and Cédric Conchon (cello). The quartet is named after the famous French composer Claude Debussy, who is known for his impressionist music. The quartet was formed in 1990 when the four musicians met at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form a quartet. The quartet's first public performance was in 1991, and they have been performing together ever since. Quatuor Debussy has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Wigmore Hall in London, and the Lincoln Center in New York. They have also performed at numerous music festivals, including the Festival de la Roque d'Anthéron, the Festival de Saintes, and the Festival de Montreux. One of the highlights of Quatuor Debussy's career was their performance at the 2008 BBC Proms. The quartet performed a program of works by Debussy, Ravel, and Fauré to critical acclaim. The Guardian described the performance as "exquisite" and praised the quartet's "impeccable ensemble playing." Quatuor Debussy has also been recognized for their recordings. They have recorded over 20 albums, including a complete cycle of Beethoven's string quartets. Their recording of Debussy's string quartet won the Diapason d'Or award in 2009, and their recording of Ravel's string quartet won the Choc de Classica award in 2012. In addition to their performances and recordings, Quatuor Debussy is also committed to music education. They regularly give masterclasses and workshops to young musicians, and they have created a program called "Quatuor à l'école" that brings chamber music into schools. Quatuor Debussy's unique sound and interpretation have made them one of the most respected and sought-after string quartets in the world.
